Location & Overview

This project was conducted in the City of London and involved the removal of asbestos from 6 floors within a multi-occupancy office building, tenanted by the private and public sector - NHS, Architectural Practices and Logistics business. Asbestos containing materials were removed predominantly from the underfloor heating system in 6 levels, whilst the building remained partially occupied.

Work, Challenges & Solutions

The main challenge in this project was the control and reduction of noise. To remove the asbestos from the underfloor heating system, meant the concrete slabs had to be removed first, creating high levels of vibration and noise.

Noise monitoring points were placed both externally and internally on various floors of the building to obtain a real time noise level.

The asbestos enclosures and perimeter walls were soundproofed with acoustic quilts.

The project was delivered on time and within budget.
