Empowering Women in Construction: Highlights from the IWCE Conference

2nd October 2024

Last week, we had the honour of seeing our Sustainability Analyst, Kat Gresswell, represent John F Hunt at the prestigious Inspiring Women in Construction & Engineering (IWCE) conference and awards. This event brought together leading women from across the construction and engineering sectors to celebrate achievements, network, and address the ongoing challenges women face in these industries.

Reflecting on her experience, Kat expressed her excitement at being part of such an empowering event:

“It was a pleasure to attend the IWCE conference and awards last Tuesday, an event series that celebrates the achievements and accomplishments of women in the construction and engineering industry. With women making up only 15% of the construction workforce, events like these that allow us to share our experiences, network, and celebrate our achievements are key to changing this. I am honoured to have been shortlisted for an award alongside such inspirational women and grateful for the support of my colleagues at John F Hunt, who have always encouraged me to take on new challenges and opportunities and celebrated my accomplishments.”

Being shortlisted for an award at IWCE reflects Kat’s hard work and leadership within our team. Her dedication and passion for challenging industry norms inspire us all.

Kat oversees our carbon data and reports, collates, and calculates CO₂e emissions across Scopes 1-3 monthly. This includes data on water, electricity, fuel consumption, employee commuting, waste removals, and material deliveries across projects and offices. Recently, Kat developed an in-house carbon accounting platform to replace the third-party system previously used, showcasing her innovative approach to carbon management.

We are incredibly proud to have her as part of John F Hunt and look forward to seeing her continue to break barriers.

Well done, Kat!
