We had the pleasure of hosting Zoe Thompson for a two-week work experience at John F Hunt. Here’s a glimpse of her journey and the skills she developed during her time with us.
Zoe enhanced her communication, practical problem-solving, and technical knowledge by gaining hands-on experience beyond textbook theories. This opportunity solidified her ambition to pursue civil engineering and provided a realistic insight into the daily life of a civil engineer.
Overcoming imposter syndrome was one of Zoe’s biggest challenges. She felt valued and confident enough to voice her opinions, thanks to our inclusive work environment. As a woman in STEM, Zoe felt comfortable and welcomed, enjoying the genuine camaraderie and family atmosphere at John F Hunt.
Zoe discovered our sites were cleaner than expected and appreciated the collaborative, knowledge-sharing culture. She was pleasantly surprised by the strong friendships and teamwork among our team members, likening it to a family vibe that made her feel right at home.
Impressed by the nurturing environment, Zoe expressed interest in joining John F Hunt in the future. The family-like atmosphere, supportive management, and ingrained mentorship left a lasting impression, making her feel valued and included.
