John F Hunt Plant Hire helps with the £80m regeneration of the infamous Mardyke Estate in Essex by providing access to the biggest machine in the John F Hunt Hire fleet, the Hitachi 870 Excavator.
The Hitachi 870 Long Reach Excavator, was hired out in Rainham to assist with the demolition of the high rise blocks which made up the notorious Mardyke Estate. The 1960’s built tower blocks, housing over four thousand residents at one stage, became run down and a dangerous area for anti-social behaviour.
Its £80m regeneration project will transform it into a desirable area to live, providing over 500 new energy efficient homes. With demolition of the final tower block complete, the remaining houses can now be constructed, with the whole of the new ‘Orchard Village’ project due to be finished in 2016.
