Honouring Pete Lanyon: 25 Years of Dedication to the Cornish Environment

After 25 years of exceptional service, Pete Lanyon is retiring from the Wheal Jane Mine Water Treatment Plant. Since joining in 1999, Pete has been a driving force behind the site’s success, ensuring its environmental impact was carefully managed under the Environment Agency and, later, the Mining Remediation Authority.

With decades of experience in the Cornish mining industry, including his work at South Crofty, Pete’s passion for protecting Cornwall’s environment has been evident throughout his career. Initially told the Wheal Jane plant would operate for just 10 years, Pete’s commitment extended to 25, safeguarding the Cornish environment and maintaining his connection to the mining industry.

Pete’s leadership and mentorship have shaped the team, with colleagues like current site manager Chris Nappin and former manager Ross Bray all benefiting from his guidance. He’s also had the honour of hosting distinguished visitors, including His Majesty King Charles III, further cementing the importance of his work.

Since 2020, John F Hunt Regeneration has been privileged to work alongside Pete, and we want to take this opportunity to thank him for everything he’s done. Pete’s legacy of care and commitment will be greatly missed, but we’re excited for him as he steps into a well-deserved retirement.

Pete, your contributions have left a lasting impact, and you will always be welcomed here. We wish you nothing but success and fulfilment in the next chapter of your life. Enjoy every moment of your well-deserved retirement.

From the John F Hunt Group.
