John F Hunt Environmental recently held the 4th SHEQ Asbestos Working Group event at the ETC venue in Finsbury Square.
“We would like to extend a big thank you to Chris Gerrard of Morgan Sindall for his participation when he presented their procedures for planning and monitoring an asbestos-licensed contractor.
Thanks also go to Ben Angell-James of Asbestos Consultants Europe for his in-depth and thought-provoking talk on the recent research by NORAC & ATaC regarding the state of asbestos within the UK. This included recently published reports on ‘Asbestos: The Lethal Legacy’ concerning the potential for increased asbestos-related deaths within the UK and across Europe.
Since the group’s inauguration in 2018, the membership numbers have increased. We currently have over 75 qualified and competent construction professionals that share the same values for promoting safety and industry best practices. When you consider the risk and subsequent consequences of working with asbestos, having help and support from a working group is a valuable asset for any organisation.
Membership is free of charge with minimal conditions, and we aim to organise another event in the summer. If you are interested in becoming a member, please let me know…..we are here to help.”
